As the Azure security engineer, you implement, manage, and monitor security for resources in Azure, multi-cloud, and hybrid environments as part of an end-to-end infrastructure. You implement and manage security components and configurations by using Microsoft Defender for Cloud and other tools. You ensure that the infrastructure aligns with standards and best practices such as the Microsoft Cloud Security Benchmark (MCSB).

 

Identity and Access Management:

 

  • Configuring Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) for Azure workloads and subscriptions.
  • Configuring Azure AD Privileged Identity Management.
  • Managing users, groups, authentication, and privileged/role-based access.

 

Platform Protection:

 

  • Understanding cloud security principles.
  • Securing networks, including implementing perimeter, network, and host security.
  • Implementing security for Azure Virtual Machines, containers, and other Azure services.
  • Configuring and securing Azure Container Registry (ACR) and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

 

Data and Application Security:

 

  • Securing data at rest and in transit using encryption, data masking, and other techniques.
  • Configuring and managing Azure Key Vault.
  • Securing applications using Azure security tools and best practices.
  • Implementing security for application lifecycle.

 

Security Operations:

 

  • Configuring security services like Azure Security Center and Microsoft Defender for Cloud.
  • Managing security alerts, responding to and remediating security issues.
  • Creating security baselines and policies.
  • Using Azure Sentinel for security information and event management (SIEM).
